Ruth Prawer Jhabvala

Ruth Prawer Jhabvala (born May 7, 1927) is an Academy Award winning screenwriter. Born in Cologne, Germany, she has been writing or co-writing movies since her first work, The Householder, in 1963. Jhabvala also wrote a novel about India, Heat and Dust (1975), which was filmed in 1983 by the Merchant-Ivory production team, of which she has become a regular member.
