Rush
Rush or rush may refer to any of the following:
- In general it implies something that happens hurriedly or hastily, or an activity entailing unusually rapid flow of people or things at quantity (see Wiktionary: Rush).
- Also called an adrenaline rush, it is an energetic and slighly euphoric feeling that occurs when something scary or dangerous happens. Recreational drugs can bring on or intensify this kind of rush.
- Rush is the title of two movies, both about drugs:
- In American football, rushing describes two different actions. See rush (football).
- In popular culture, it is the name of a musical band, Rush, and of their self-titled album, Rush.
- In botany it is a semiaquatic grass-like plant of the family Juncaceae.
- In fraternities and sororities it is a regulated period of new member recruitment. Sometimes the regulated period is termed formal rush and the general term extended to the overall process or concept of new member recruitment.
- In music, it means to play faster than the indicated tempo. Rushing is usually accidental and undesirable.
- The first name of talk-show host Rush Limbaugh.
- Rush is a town in Monroe County, New York.
- In real-time strategy computer games, a rush is a fast attack at the beginning of a game.
