Rudolf Friml (December 7, 1879-1972) was a songwriter, pianist and composer of light classical music, especially operetta.
Friml was born in Prague, but had most of his success in the USA. Like his contemporary, Ivor Novello, he was sometimes ridiculed for the insubstantial nature of his compositions and often dubbed as trite. He is mentioned in a song by Tom Lehrer.
