The Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia has literally been a lifesaver for thousands of residents of the Outback, with regular rounds that span thousands of kilometers. Of course, emergency services are always available for dispatch - but every outpost has a medical kit with meticulously numbered items for use by prescription, so that treatment can start while the doc is still en route.
