Royal Academy of Music



         


The Royal Academy of Music is a music school in London, England. It was founded by Lord Burghersh in 1822 and in 1830 was granted a Royal Charter by King George IV.

Past students include Arthur Sullivan, Henry Wood, Hugh Marchant, Devika Rani, David Martin, Harrison Birtwistle, John Barbirolli and Simon Rattle.

In 1999 the Academy became a full member of the largest British university, the University of London.
