Rasayana is the Sanskrut word for Chemical. Chemistry is called as "Rasayan Shastra" in Sanskrut, Marathi, Hindi and other Sanskrut oriented languages. Chemistry in Ancient India was much less developed than today. Examples may be found in colours of "Ajantha and Elora Caves" in Maharashtra, Steel of "Vishnustambha" and processed wood sample in Kondivade caves near Rajmachi fort in Maharashtra.
