Qazvin is one of the 28 provinces of Iran. It is in the north-west of the country, and its center is Qazvin. It was formed in 1996 from parts of Tehran and Zanjan provinces.

The name Qazvin is derived from Caspian, the name of a group of people who lived in the southern shores of the Caspian Sea in ancient times.
