P'yŏngan (P'yŏngan-do) was one of the Eight Provinces of Korea during the Joseon Dynasty. In 1896, P'yŏngan was divided into modern-day North and South P'yŏngan Provinces, which today are part of North Korea. The provincial capital was P'yŏngyang.
