A psychonaut is a person who by his or her own free will ingests a psychoactive substance for the experiences provided there of, and reflects upon the experience in a positive way and applies it to his or her own life with the intent of bettering themselves. The individual also compares his experience with other aspects of his or her life, therefore providing for a very rewarding and inwardly focusing experience. The frequency of use varies and depends on many different things. Some psychonauts are also neoshamans. Eventually, the individual gains a sense or feeling of control over the entheogen they are taking.
