Project Gotham Racing

Project Gotham Racing (PGR) is a launch title for Microsofts' games console and swiftly became the second best selling game for the Xbox after Halo.

PGR differs from most racing games in that winning a race doesn't mean the player advances to the next round, instead advancement in PGR was down to a combination of being fast enough to meet the challenge set, and scoring enough Kudos points to advance. Kudos points are gained through the player's driving skills, such as power sliding around a corner at speed, or overtaking other NPCs in the race.

A sequel to this game, called Project Gotham Racing 2, was released in 2003.

PGR is a sequel to Metropolis Street Racer, released for SEGA's Dreamcast, also developed by Bizarre Creations. The name change was necessary, because SEGA holds the copyright to the original name.
