Pretty Woman is a 1990 romantic comedy film starring Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. It was written by J. F. Lawton and directed by Garry Marshall and was originally named $3000. As well as Roberts and Gere, the movie stars Ralph Bellamy, Jason Alexander, Laura San Giacomo, Alex Hyde-White, Amy Yasbeck, Elinor Donahue and Hector Elizondo.
For this movie Julia Roberts was nominated for a Golden Globe and an Academy Award for Best Actress. Though not her first movie, this film was Roberts' first big budget hit and launched her into the public spotlight.
The movie also featured the song "Oh Pretty Woman" by Roy Orbison and the first major hit of the Swedish band Roxette, It Must Have Been Love.
