Prenzlauer Berg is a former borough of Berlin and since 2001 part of Pankow. Situated in the city's eastern part, it quickly attracted young people and an alternative lifestyle clientele after German reunification as well as lots of restaurants, bars and cafés and small, often specialised shops. Today the area is considered by some as the most fashionable of Berlin, but rents have begun to rise.
