Prayag
Prayag is the ancient name for what is today the city of Allahabad in India. It has a position of importance in the Hindu religion and mythology as the confluence point of the rivers Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati. Apart from that, the city was (in the first half or so of the 20th century) important as an educational and literary centre. A number of famous names in Hindi literature are connected to it. It was also once the capital (until the 1920s) of the United Provinces (what is now the state of Uttar Pradesh).
