Power Corporation is a major Canadian company with interests in a number of industries, such as media, pulp and paper, and finance. Companies it owns include the La Presse newspaper in Montreal and the Consolidated-Bathurst pulp and paper firm. The company is controlled by Paul Desmarais. The company has long been a close ally of the Liberal Party of Canada. Paul Desmarias's son is married to Jean Chrétien's daughter France and Paul Martin's entire fortune and business is a result of his positions in Power Corp.
