Gujarat province of India. It has a population of over 100 000, and is the capital of the district of the same name. It is an important port located on the Arabian Sea on the west coast of the Indian subcontinent, on the Kathiawar peninsula. The town is best known for being the birthplace of Mahatma Gandhi. It is today a tourist centre and is served by an airport and train line.
