Clement X, né Emilio Altieri (July 13, 1590 - July 22, 1676) was pope from 1670-1676.
Elected at age of 79, having served in various nunciates.
Appointed his relative by marriage Cardinal Paluzzi degli Albertoni to take on the duties which he was prevented from doing by age.
Gave financial help to King John Sobieski of Poland in his fight against the Turks. Continued tension with France over ecclesiastical matters.
