Poncelet-Steiner theorem



         


In geometry, the Poncelet-Steiner theorem on ruler-and-compass constructions states that whatever can be constructed by straightedge with compass, can be constructed by straightedge alone, given only the data of a circle and its centre. It was proved in 1833 by Jakob Steiner, having been proposed by Poncelet.
