Political sociology



         


Political sociology is the study of sociology within the area of politics. Among the areas of study covered by political sociology are the political activities of various social classes, ethnic groups, genders, religions, and other groups. The field also looks at how major trends can affect the political process, as well as exploring how various social forces work together to change political policies on issues such as abortion, criminal justice, foreign policy, and welfare. Several theoretical models have been given for political sociology, including the the power-elite model, the pluralist model and the Marxist political-economic model.

Political sociology is widely related to geopolitics.
