Giuseppe Farina, better known as Pininfarina, was an Italian car stylist. He founded the famous styling house Pininfarina, synonymous with some of the best-known classic Italian sports cars.
His nickname Pinin was so common that a law was appositely issued to legally change his surname to Pininfarina since the signature that Giuseppe Farina put on the cars he designed was "pininfarina". Pinin is a nickname for "Giuseppe" in the dialect of Turin, where Pininfarina was born.
Pininfarina has been employed by many major car makers, especially Cadillac, Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Fiat and Lancia. The recent Peugeot 406 coupé was also styled by Pininfarina. The firm is currently run by Giuseppe Farina's sons.
