Pericardiocentesis



         


In medicine, pericardiocentesis is a procedure where fluid is aspirated from the pericardium (the sac enveloping the heart). It is generally done under ultrasound guidance, to minimalise complications.

Indications include cardiac tamponade and pericarditis.
