Perfect Blue is an feature-length anime film, created by Satoshi Kon. It is a psychological thriller about a Japanese pop idol called Mima.
The film is based upon a book and was originally due to be made into a live action film. However an earthquake in Tokyo, which damaged the studio during pre-production, led to the slash of its budget and in turn the film's creation as an animated work.
