Peada
Peada (d. Easter 656) was a King of Mercia (655 - 656) and a son of Penda.
He was converted to Christianity by Finan of Lindisfarne in about 653, and in the same year he married Alhflede, a daughter of Oswiu of Northumbria. Also at around the same time, Peada was made king of Middle Anglia by his father. In 655, Oswiu defeated and killed Penda at the Battle of Winwaed, and consequently he came to exercise power in Mercia. Oswiu allowed Peada to rule the southern part of Mercia as a client king.
Peada only had enough time to help found the monastery at Peterborough before he was murdered on Easter of 656.
