Palencia (province)

Palencia is a province of northern Spain, in the northern part of the autonomous community of Castile-Leon. It is bordered by the provinces of León, Cantabria, Burgos, and Valladolid.

Of the population of 176,125 (2002), 45% live in the capital, Palencia. There are 191 municipalities in the province, of which more than half are villages with fewer than 200 people. See List of municipalities in Palencia.
