perennial weed with shallow fibrous roots. An individual usually has no leafs on the stem, and grows most of their hairy leaves and stolons at the basal of the plant. Stems may reach a height of 60 cm and have up to 30 ½ inch flowers. They very effectively propagate by flowers, which bloom red to orange and appear from June to August. Originating from the alpine meadows in European mountains they were brought to the US in 1875 as an ornamental plant, and have since spread to several states both in the west and the east and are considered an invasive species or noxious weed, in many states of the US, since they are a very dominant over indigenous species.
