Opel Ascona

The Opel Ascona was a medium-sized car produced by Opel, the German subsidiary of General Motors.

The 1975 model formed the basis of the Vauxhall Cavalier in the UK, and was also sold as the Chevrolet Ascona in South Africa.

The front wheel drive Ascona released in 1981 was one of GM's 'J-Car' family of cars, and was available as a sedan or a hatchback. A version of the Ascona called the Chevrolet Monza, was produced by GM in Brazil, as either a sedan or a fastback coupe, the latter being unique to Brazil.

The Ascona was replaced by the Vectra in 1988.
