OmniWeb

OmniWeb is a web browser made by OmniGroup. According to the developers' site, OmniWeb is built specifically ?and exclusively ? for NeXTSTEP, OPENSTEP and Mac OS X.

Under Mac OS X, for instance, OmniWeb uses Mac OS X's graphics engine to produce sharp web pages that display smooth text . OmniWeb also takes full advantage of multiple processors for extra speed, and truly reflects the Aqua user interface with drawers, sheets, customizable toolbars among others.

OmniWeb originally employed its own proprietary HTML layout engine. However, the engine was not fully compatible with all of the most recent Internet standards, such as Cascading Style Sheets. In February 2003, OmniGroup officially decided to adopt the use of Apple's KHTML-based WebCore rendering engine, which was also used by Safari.

In February 2004, a beta release of version 5.0 included a number of advanced features for web browsing. The most notable feature was an unusual implementation of tabbed browsing, in which the tabs were displayed vertically in a sidebar (including thumbnail pictures of the pages) along the side of the window (see screenshot).

OmniWeb has a rich feature set. If you know of a good hint, add it here! (this is a hints page, not necessarily an advertisement page)

OmniSaft is a plug-in for OmniWeb that adds a full-screen mode.
