Oath of Allegiance (Canada)

The Canadian Oath of Allegiance, in its present form, is:

I, _____________, do swear (declare) that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Second, Queen of Canada, Her Heirs and Successors.

So help me God.

A person may choose to replace the word "swear" with "declare" and to omit the phrase "So help me God."

The oath (or declaration) is usually used only upon induction into the military or assumption of elected office. It is not usual to use it at other times, such as at the beginning of the school day (as with the American Pledge of Allegiance). The national anthem is sometimes sung in this circumstance.
