Norton Commander

Norton Commander is a software program released by the Symantec corporation.  The program is a file navigator with a user interface for DOS.  The typical screen includes two panels with file lists.  The program makes it easy to copy and move files between the two panels.  There are also built-in text file viewer and editor.  With the release of new versions, more and more features have been added.

Norton Commander was very popular during the MS-DOS era and has been extensively cloned.  Some of those clones are Volkov Commander (for MS-DOS), Midnight Commander (for Unix-like systems), and Far Commander and Total Commander (for Win32).
