Non-Partisan League

The Non-Partisan League was a political organization that was founded in 1915 in the United States by socialist A. C. Townley. It advocated state control of mills, grain elevators, banks and other farm-related industries. It originated in North Dakota, but eventually spread throughout the American midwest during the progressive era. It also spread northwards into Canada running in provincial elections and forming some of the basis for the Progressive Party of Canada. It eventually went into decline, and allied itself with the Democratic Party of North Dakota in 1956.
