Nick Faldo



         


Nicholas Alexander Faldo (born:July 18 1957) is one of the best golfers England or Europe has ever produced.

He has won six golf majors;

and represented the European team a record 11 times in the Ryder Cup having won 23 of his matches, lost 19 and halfed 4, which also gives him the record of playing most Ryder Cup matches.


He turned professional in 1976 and a year later became the youngest player to appear in the Ryder Cup, held that year at Royal Lytham & St. Annes golf course.

He has won 30 European Tour titles with european career earnings (as of June 2004) of ?7,783,939 placing him 13th in the all time list.

In 1996 Nick launched the Faldo Series to encourage young golfers and give them some experience of top level competition.

He is currently married to his third wife Valerie and has 4 children, Natalie, Matthew, Georgia and Emma Scarlet.

He was awarded the M.B.E in 1998.

Nick is reportedly Britain's richest sportsman and was voted BBC Sports Personality of the Year in 1989.
