New Year resolution

A common New Year's resolution is to in some way maintain peak vitality, fitness, or appearance. Examples of this include quitting a form of drug abuse (e.g. smoking or drinking), eating sensibly, exercising more, or brushing teeth regularly.

Other examples include giving to the poor more often, being more assertive, or being more economically or environmentally safe (spending less, saving more/ wasting less, recycling more). People may act similarly during the christian fasting period of Lent, only the motive behind it sways more towards sacrifice rather than responsibility.
