In existence since 1977, the New Britain Party (NBP) has been led since its inception by Dennis Delderfield, a newspaper owner. The NBP is anti-immigration, with longstanding links to ?Rhodesian? organisations promoting apartheid, such as the Springbok Club. A very minor force, the NBP briefly hit the headlines in 1980 when it absorbed the anti-immigration United Country Party, infamously chaired by TV astronomer Patrick Moore. The NBP also organises an annual March for Freedom from Runnymede to Westminster in opposition to the EU, which attracts large crowds and is supported by the UK Independence Party (whose Chairman Mike Natrass stood for the NBP in the Dudley West by-election of 1994, attracting a mere 146 votes ). The NBP are overall largely conservative, even reminiscent of the early League of Empire Loyalists, and do not seem to function beyond Delderfield anymore. UKIP MEP Jeffrey Titford is also an ex-NBP member.
