NetMail is a collaborative software server from Novell, positioned as a rival to the Lotus Notes / Domino server from IBM and Microsoft Exchange Server. The original name for the product was Novell Internet Messaging System (NIMS). Unlike its proprietary competitors, NetMail is designed around open standards including LDAP, PKCS, iCalendar, POP3, IMAP4, SSL, and S/MIME.
Among other things, NetMail manages electronic mail, and is thus a popular mail server.
The server runs on several platforms, including NetWare, Windows, Linux, and Solaris. Because it is standards based, there is no "native" client. It instead works with any standards based client. The web interface is likewise usable by most web browsers.
