The National University of Singapore is located in the southwest of the Republic of Singapore - it is bounded by the Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE), Clementi Road, Buona Vista Road and Kent Ridge Park. The NUS originates from The Straits Settlements and Federated Malay States Government Medical School, founded in 1905. In 1980 the NUS was created from a merger of the Nanyang University and the University of Singapore.
The NUS was listed as one of the best universities in Asia by University Scholars Programme, with an enrollment of more than 23,000 undergraduates and 9,000 graduate students.
