This article is about the Hindu myth. Naga is a district in Mie, Japan. Naga is a city in Camarines Sur province in the Philippines.

In Hinduism, the nagas ("snake") are an ancient race of snake-humans that brought fertility to their venerators; they were especially popular in southern India. They are Varuna's servants. Nagas live in a type of palace called Patala, many of which are in Manasa

For Malay sailors, nagas are a type of dragon with many heads; in Thailand and Java, the naga is a wealthy underworld deity. They are children of Kasyapa. In Pali, a naga may also be an elephant or a tree.

Fantasy Role

In modern fantasy fiction, members of a race with both snake and human characteristics are often called nagas.

In the game Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos, Nagas are High Elves that were driven underwater and eventually mutated into snake-like creatures. They reside in their city Nazjatar

The name of the Indian city Nagpur, is a reminiscent of ancient Nagapura, the city of Nagas. It is believed that the Nagas were some kind of tribal people in the past.
