N'Ko

N?Ko is a script devised by Solomana Kante in 1947 as an writing system for the Manden people of West Africa. Kante created N?Ko in response to what he felt were beliefs that Africans were a "cultureless people" since there was prior to this time, no indigenous African written language. He encouraged Africans to become educated in and write literature in this language.
