Monach Islands



         


Monach islands (ScotsGaelic: Heisker) are a group of islands in the Outer Hebrides of Scotland.

The islands Stockay, Ceann Ear, Shivinish, Ceann Iar and Shillay which has a lighhouse built in 1864 are known locally as Heisker.

At one time over 100 people lived here but the last crofting family left in 1947 and the islands are now uninhabited and are run as a Nature Reserve
