In the Cabinet of Canada, The Minister of Industry is responsible for overseeing the federal government's economic development and corporate affairs department, Industry Canada. It is considered one of the most prized Cabinet postings as it ensures close contact with Canada's business elite. Since July 20, 2004, the Minister of Industry has been David Emerson.
