The Mille Miglia (1000 miles) was an open-road endurance race which took place in Italy from 1927 to 1957. After a fatal crash that took the lives of drivers, spectators and children, the race from Brescia to Rome and back to Brescia was banned.
The MM made Gran Turismo (Grand Touring) sports cars like Ferrari and Porsche famous.
Since 1977, the Mille Miglia Storico is a parade for vintage cars.
