The Miami Herald is a daily newspaper serving primarily the Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe counties in Florida. The first edition was published September 15, 1903 (as The Miami Evening Record). The newspaper was renamed The Miami Herald on December 1, 1910, and today it has a daily readership of approximately one million readers (daily circulation of about 300,000). It employs a total of 2,000 people in Miami and across several regional bureaus. The newspaper has also been awarded 17 Pulitzer Prizes.
Some regular columnists include Pulitzer-winning humorist Dave Barry and novelist Carl Hiaasen.
The Herald is a Knight Ridder newspaper.
