Mi'kmaq language



         


The Mi'kmaq (also Míkmaq, Micmac) are a First Nations people indigenous to northeastern New England and Canada's Maritimes. They have a population of about 20,000 of whom approximately one-third still speak the Algonquian Mi'kmaq language.

In the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, October is deemed Mi'kmaq History Month.
