Meissonier



         


Jean-Louis-Ernest Meissonier (1815-1891) was a leading French Classicist painter and sculptor famous for his depictions of Napoleon, his armies and military themes. He documented sieges and manoeuvres and was the teacher of Edouard Detaille.
