Meat Beat Manifesto is an electronic music outfit originally consisting of Jack Dangers and Jonny Stevens formed in 1987 as a side-project of Perennial Divide. They left Perennial Divide in 1988 to record an album, but the tapes were burnt in a studio fire. They then recorded the EP Storm The Studio, which found them pigeonholed as industrial act. In response, they recorded 99% in 1990 which was more techno-influenced. Later that year, Wax Trax! compiled the surviving tapes from the fire and released it as Armed Audio Warfare.
When they left Wax Trax! in 1992, they signed to Elektra, their first album on that label: Satyricon was considered more of techno album than an industrial one. Meat Beat Manifesto followed up with Subliminal Sandwich in 1996 and Actual Sounds and Voices in 1998. In 2002 they released RUOK?, an album quite different to the first few. In 2003 they released a remix album for Storm The Studio, followed by ...In Dub, a remix album of RUOK?.
