The Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs is a school within Syracuse University that offers degrees in the social sciences and public and international affairs. It is named for George Holmes Maxwell, a Boston patent attorney who donated $500,000 to the university. The Maxwell School was dedicated on October 3, 1924.
The school is best known for its Masters in Public Administration program, which is the best-ranked graduate program of its kind in the nation. It also offers graduate and undergraduate degrees in economics, history, public management, and public policy, among others.
Many of Maxwell's graduates have moved on to top positions within the U.S. government, including NASA Administrator Sean O'Keefe and former Secretary of the Navy
