Max Burns (born November 8 1948), American politician, has been a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives since 2003, representing the 12th District of Georgia.
He was born in Millen, Georgia, was educated at Georgia Institute of Technology and Georgia State University (PhD) and served in the United States Army Reserve. He defeated Charles "Champ" Walker, Jr. to win election in November 2002.
Burns is considered extremely vulnerable in 2004. He was barely elected in a Democratic district against a candidate with ethical problems in 2002. His Democratic opponent is Athens City Commisioner John Barrow.
