Martha White is a U.S. brand of flour, cornmeal, cornbread mixes, cake mixes, and similar products.
The Martha White brand originated in Lebanon, Tennessee. It is probably most associated with its long-term sponsorship of the country music radio program, the Grand Ole Opry. The commercial first recorded for the product in the 1950s by the bluegrass music artists Flatt and Scruggs is still used today.
Most products feature an antique-looking picture of a very young girl on their packaging which is presumably the original and namesake Martha White. The commercials for the products stress the fact that they are "self-rising" due to the presence of the copyrighted ingredient "Hot-Rize" or "Hot-Rize Plus", which is in reality merely a mixture of baking powder and baking soda.
