Marlborough is one of the regions of New Zealand and is administered by a unitary authority, the Marlborough District Council. Its towns include Blenheim, Havelock, and Picton.
The Marlborough Sounds form the north-east part of this region.
Among its world-famous former residents were rocket scientist William Pickering and atom-splitter Ernest Rutherford.
The area can be considered to include Kaikoura for some purposes, including MetService weather reports.
