Mario Monti (also known as Super Mario) was born in Varese, Italy on March 19, 1943. He is married with two children. He holds a degree in economics and management from Bocconi University, Milan and completed graduate studies at Yale University, USA. Since 1999 he has been a member of the European Commission responsible for competition, where he became famous for starting an anti-monopoly lawsuit against Microsoft.
