Marill is a water type Pokémon that evolves from Azurill and into Azumarill. When first seen, many thought it was related to Pikachu causing it to be named Pikablu. This, however, is not the case.
Marill's tail is filled with oil less dense than water, which makes the tail it float like a buoy. Its fur is permeable which keeps it dry.
When fishing in the water, Marill wraps its tail around a tree. Since the tail is stretchy and flexible, it allows the Pokémon to get food and still stay safely anchored to the tree.
In Johto, Marill can be found in Mt. Mortar since there's much water in there. It is very rare.
In Hoenn, Marill is far more common. It can be found near or in practically any body of fresh water.
Marill's name possibly derives from the words "marine" and "rill". A rill is a small river.
In the Pokémon Anime, , the Pokémon Observer from the Orange Islands, had a Marill which he used on multiple occasions.
