Magnetohydrodynamic drive

A Magnetohydrodynamic drive is a method proposed for propelling seagoing vessels using the electromotive force generated by passing electric current through seawater. Also known as a caterpillar drive for submarines, this was popularised in the movie (but not in the original book) The Hunt for Red October. To date, there have been no known production vessels using this method of propulsion.
